Set out from Silloth after breakfast, tracing the dramatic coastline of the Solway Firth, a haven for birdlife and natural beauty. Pedal through the marshlands to the village of Bowness-on-Solway, the western terminus of Hadrian’s Wall, where a pavilion marks the ancient rampart’s end. Pass the historic site of Maia Roman Fort before continuing through Port Carlisle, once a bustling canal port. Your journey concludes in Carlisle, a city steeped in border history.
