Begin with a visit to the Blasket Island Interpretative Center, where you’ll discover the fascinating stories of the islanders who once called this rugged landscape home. The trail then skirts the scenic Smerwick Harbour and offers a detour to Dun an Oir, a site steeped in dramatic history. As you approach Ballydavid, a lively fishing port and a bastion of the Irish language, enjoy the authentic atmosphere and perhaps sample fresh local seafood. Immerse yourself in the spiritual heart of early Irish Christianity as you traverse a landscape dotted with ancient sites. Today’s hike ascends to the saddle of Mas an Tiompain, nestled below the towering Mount Brandon, Ireland’s second highest peak.
