12 Day to Explore the Best of Classical Sites in Northern & Southern Greece

After breakfast at your hotel in Athens, our driver will take you on a tour of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the Acropolis and the Panathinaiko Stadium. You'll also pass by the National Garden, Hadrian's Arc, and the Parliament. From there, we'll drive along the mainland coast to Peloponnese, stopping briefly at the impressive Canal of Corinth. Our journey continues to Ancient Corinth, a city beloved by Saint Paul, where you'll visit the Ancient Market and the Bema of Apostle Paul. We'll end the day in Epidaurus, where you'll spend the night.

We start the day with a visit to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Next, we head to the romantic seaside town of Nafplio, where you can explore the town's castle or take a boat to the fortress of 'Bourtzi'. Our journey continues to the city of Argos and the archaeological site of Mycenae, a powerful city in ancient times. Here, you'll see the famous 'Gate of Lions' and the 'Atreus King Tomb'. We'll end the day in the area of Mystras, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll explore the Byzantine town of Mystras, where you can wander around the castle city and visit the Palace of the Despots and the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Dimitrios. We then head to the city of Sparti, where you can visit the unique Museum of Olive Oil. Our journey continues to Areopolis and then to Diros, famous for its stunning subterranean caves. After a day of exploration, we return to Mystras for the night.

We start the day with a visit to Ancient Messene, a UNESCO monument that offers a unique combination of diverse beauties. From there, we head to Pylos to visit the Palace of Nestor, the best-preserved Mycenaean Greek palace. Alternatively, you can choose to visit Vassae and the Temple of Epikourios Apollo instead of the palace. We end the day in Ancient Olympia, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll visit the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games took place. Explore the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, and the stadium where the marble starting blocks are still in position. Leaving Ancient Olympia, we'll cross the impressive bridge of Rion – Antirion to reach the city of Preveza, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll visit Nikopolis, a city founded by the Romans, and its extensive archaeological site. We'll continue to Ancient Kassope, an ancient Greek city in Epirus that offers stunning views of the sea and the Ambracian Gulf. Our journey ends in the city of Ioannina, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll visit Ancient Dodoni, a worship center of Zeus and Dionysus that was also an oracle of the ancient Greek world. We'll then explore the Perama caves, part of an ancient underground riverbed. After a day of exploration, we return to Ioannina for the night.

After breakfast, we leave Ioannina and head to Meteora, a UNESCO world heritage site known for its monasteries perched atop towering rocks. We'll visit the Monastery of Varlaam and the Monastery of St. Stephan, where you can admire Byzantine and Christian artifacts. We then drive through the valley of Tempi, passing by Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, on our way to Thessaloniki, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll embark on a city tour of Thessaloniki. We'll visit the Archaeological Museum, the White Tower, and the Triumphal Arch of Galerius. You'll also have the chance to explore the central Aristotelous Square, the historical quarter of Ladadika, and the traditional markets of Modiano. After a day of exploration, we return to your hotel in Thessaloniki for the night.

After breakfast, we'll drive to Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. Here, you can admire the exquisite floor mosaics of the 4th-century B.C. villas. We then head to Vergina, where you'll visit the unique Museum created in the Great Tumulus, covering the royal tombs of Macedonia. Admire the astonishing findings from the tomb of King Phillip II, Alexander's father. After a day of exploration, we return to Thessaloniki for the night.

After breakfast, we'll visit the Archaeological Park of Dion, the sacred city of the Macedonians, at the foot of Mount Olympus. We'll also visit the area of 'Prionia' to admire the natural beauty at the foot of Olympus. After a day of exploration, we depart for the city of Volos, where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we'll drive to the archaeological site of Delphi, passing by Thermopylae. Here, you can admire the statue of Leonidas and visit the famous sights of Delphi, including the ancient stadium and the oracle. We'll also visit Arachova, the most famous winter resort in Greece. We'll return to Athens in the afternoon, marking the end of our unforgettable journey through Greece.
