Embark on one of the most challenging segments of the GR20 as you leave Bonifatu behind. Traverse sparkling rivers and cross the iconic Spasimata Suspension Bridge before entering the wild beauty of the Muvrella Valley, home to a tranquil mountain lake. The route is filled with breathtaking viewpoints before descending to the base of Monte Cinto. Your day ends at the mountain resort of Haut Asco (or similar), where you enjoy hearty meals and a restful night.

Today’s route takes you up the rugged slopes of Monte Cintu, bypassing the legendary 'circle of solitude' and reaching the highest point of the GR20 at Pointe des Éboulis. Descend into the secluded Melarie Valley, where you might spot wild mouflons. Your evening is spent in a rustic shepherd’s hut by a gentle stream in Vallone (or similar), with a star-filled sky overhead and the soothing sounds of nature.

Journey into the heart of Corsica as you trek from Vallone to the traditional region of Niolu. The trail skirts beneath the dramatic peaks of Paglia Orba and the distinctive Capu Tafunatu, offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Porto on clear days. Descend into the lush Golo Valley, where a series of natural pools await before you arrive at Vergio (or similar) for a well-deserved rest and delicious meals.

Set out from Vergio along a gentle path that soon leads to your first mountain pass at Bocca San Pedru. Here, the Mediterranean coastline emerges in the distance, contrasting with the dramatic glacial cirque on the other side. The highlight of the day is the enchanting Lac de Nino, surrounded by lush pozzines and often visited by wild horses. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst this alpine paradise before returning to your accommodation.

A challenging ascent awaits as you climb towards the Brèche de Capitellu, rewarded with sweeping views of the sparkling Melu and Capitellu lakes nestled in the upper Restonica Valley. After reaching Bocca Muzella, descend to a tranquil plateau where the Petra Piana refuge (or similar) offers a peaceful night’s rest amid the mountains.

On your final day of the northern GR20, set off from the Onda refuge and journey through the enchanting Agnone Valley, nestled at the foot of Monte d'Oro. Cross the Turtettu Suspension Bridge and marvel at the tumbling Cascades des Anglais before reaching the mountain village of Vizzavona (or similar), where a celebratory dinner awaits.
