BIKES
During the trip you will be provided with a unisex 21 speed touring bike with hand brakes, bike rack, panniers and repair kit (per room). If you would prefer a 7 speed bike (with backpedal brake) you need to book this in advance. From 188 cm in height, a mens frame is available.
A limited number of children’s bikes are available (minimum height 120cm), as are bike seats (max 18kg) and trailers (2 children, maximum 40kg). These are subject to availability - reservation is necessary in advance. Safety vests are compulsory in Hungary and Slovakia in poor weather or at night, as are helmets for adults (out of city) and children 15 and under (everywhere).
ELECTRIC POWERED BIKE
A limited number are available for an additional supplement. These must be requested at the time of booking or in advance. Our specially made 8-speed KTM or Flyer models increase your pedaling power 3 fold and allows cyclists of different athletic conditions to book a bike tour together. The saddles vary between models, and will be free-wheel or with a backpedal brake (on request). In 'normal' mode the battery can power up to 70km / 45mi. The range depends on the level of support, body weight and routing, e.g, the more hills, the higher the body weight, the more battery-capacity will be used. You can regulate the range of your battery if you use less support at the beginning and raise it if needed. Batteries to be loaded with the battery charger in your room at night.
All rental bikes are equipped with a pannier, and a repair kit with pump, a spare tube and lock is provided per room.
You should never park your bike unattendedly especially in Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. We strongly recommend to do sightseeing without a bicycle. In case of bicycle theft you must go to the police to file a report. This could be very cumbersome and takes up your precious spare time.
Helmet rental is not included for this trip. Please bring your own helmet from home - or on request you can purchase a helmet to be provided for you locally in Vienna (must be pre-booked and pre-paid)
For the rental bikes we offer an insurance for theft or damage: € 19,-/week for touring bikes, € 45,-/week for E-bikes. This insurance can be booked at bike handover. The bicycle insurance covers the cost of repair or replacement of bicycle parts in case of an accident. It does NOT cover purposely caused damage and theft in big cities.
Breakdown
Flat tires can happen. You should be able to fix them yourself with the repair kit. In case of a more serious problem, please call us immediately. Our colleague can organise replacement or remedy in the next 1-2 hours. En route we have some reserve bikes, and there is the possibility to change the bike. Otherwise we will change your bike the next morning – please inform us in the afternoon.
